Methocarbamol is used for short term musculoskeletal pain. It is a muscle relaxant used to treat acute, painful musculoskeletal spasms in a variety of musculoskeletal conditions.
It is not useful in chronic neurological disorders, such as cerebral palsy or other dyskinesias. Currently, there is some suggestion that muscle relaxants may improve the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.
Methocarbamol can be useful in the treatment of acute traumatic pain in general.
